2008 Carolina Gold Drum Majors Announced

The staff and directors would like to introduce the 2008 Carolina Gold Drum Majors.

Shedrick Samuels has a long history with Carolina Gold including being a long-time veteran, horn sergeant and Board of Directors member.  His dedication to the corps is demonstrated by his attitude and hard work to make the Gold organization better.  You can always find him pitching in to help out in whatever way the corps necessitates, from helping with inventory, fundraising, providing transportation to members, driving vans, cleaning up after a camp, working RBC events and more!  He gives endlessly to the corps and is a perfect role model for his fellow members at Gold.  Shedrick's many accomplishments during his musical career include serving as drum major for West Forsyth HS, and as conductor for the North Carolina State University Marching Band.

Les Turner, a new member of Gold, came to the organization willing to perform in any section that the corps has needed him in.  A trained saxophonist, he signed on to be a part of the Carolina Gold brass line, but also, offered his skills to the pit section if needed !  Always ready to take on a challenge and do what it takes for the betterment of the corps,  Les is now offering his conducting skills to Gold.  Les received a BM in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  He is currently the band director at East Wake HS in Wendell, NC and has instructed HS drum majors over the years.
Both of these gentlemen will lead Carolina Gold with a sense of pride, determination and integrity.  We welcome them as part of our leadership team at Gold and wish them the best of luck in the coming summer months.
