Percussion Practice Guidelines Between Camps

  1. Maintain Technique:
    • Natural Curve of the Hands
    • Relaxed Fingers, Hands, Forearms and Elbows
    • Bead together in the center (or zones for tenors)
    • Use the Rebound
  2. Practice with a Metronome to ensure rhythmic accuracy
  3. Play at the correct heights/dynamics
  4. Move your feet (if sitting or standing, mark time)
  5. Set aside time during the week for "practice time" and stick to it (create a model week)- the more your practice, the better you will be
  6. Envision Yourself Playing Perfect in Performances as you practice (and your time off)
