New to the Carolina Gold staff this season, Charlie Fisher is originally from Lincolnton, NC. He has over 15 years of marching band and drum corps experience as a teacher, performer, designer and adjudicator. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he received his Bachelor of Music Education. While at UNC Charlotte, he participated in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble and was a recipient of a performance scholarship for the universities Honors Brass Quintet. During his drum corps performing career, he performed with two corps; Carolina Crown (2001-2002) and with the 14-time world-champion Concord Blue Devils (2003-2004). His travels as performer and teacher have taken him to 48 states and Canada, as well as parts of Europe, Mexico and Japan; where he was part of a select group of Blue Devils chosen to take part in the Marching In Okayama Music Festival in 2003. Currently, Charlie is a freelance trombonist and is the director of instrumental instruction at Northside Christian Academy. He resides in Concord, NC with his wife Jennifer.
