Carolina Gold Drum Corps
Color Guard Technician
Aubrey Horstman is a 2012 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky. She currently now resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia and is in her second year majoring in Business Management at Tidewater Community College. Her true passions are puppies and make-up (No, really!)
In the past eight years, Aubrey has been in a variety of different guard programs. She began this journey in 2009 with the Paul Laurence Dunbar Marching Band. After this start, she spent an additional two fall seasons (2010, 2011) and two winter seasons (2010,2012) with Paul Laurence Dunbar. As a Junior in high school, she also had the opportunity to march with Lexis Winter Guard (2011).
Following graduation, Aubrey continued her love of guard by marching with various other groups. Her drum corps experiences include- The Colts (2012-2013), The Blue Stars (2015), and Carolina Gold (2014-2016). Additionally, her winter guard experiences include- Zydeco World (2013), First Flight World (2014, 2016), and Legacy presented by Carolina Gold (2017).
She finds that participating in a variety of different organizations has helped her be open-minded and appreciative of all the different styles and philosophies throughout the color guard community.
Aubrey has also gained instructional experience through being a technician, choreographer, and director for the Hickory High School (Chesapeake, VA) Color Guard and winter programs for the past three years. She has also choreographed for the Kellam High School Marching Knights for the past two years. This will be Aubrey's first time on staff at Carolina Gold and she looks forward to helping make Carolina Gold a home, like staff and members have previously done for her.
