Midas Winds High Brass Technician
Christopher Williams is a professional trumpet player based out of Winston-Salem, NC. An active musician, he has performed all over North and South Carolina with several orchestras, wind ensembles, and chamber groups, including the Salem Band, the Chrysalis Brass Quintet, Upstate Winds, Foothills Philharmonic, and the UNC School of the Arts Nutcracker Orchestra among others. As a soloist, he frequently performs in weddings, special church services, and funerals.
Having studied with many insightful teachers, Chris is passionate about teaching and working with the next generation of students. He has taught beginning band with the Salvation Army, and maintains a private studio in Winston-Salem.
Chris received his B.M. in Music Education from the University of South Carolina and his M.M. in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. His teachers include James Ackley (Professor of Trumpet at the University of South Carolina and international soloist), Judith Saxton (Former Professor of Trumpet at the UNC School of the Arts, Clinician and Alexander Technique teacher), Ashley Hall (Former Interim Professor of Trumpet at the UNC School of the Arts and Principal Solo Cornet for the North Carolina Brass Band), and additional studies with Dr. Gary Malvern (Professor of Trumpet at Furman University), and Anita Cirba (Principal Trumpet of the Winston-Salem Symphony and the Greensboro Symphony).
Chris resides in Winston-Salem with his lovely wife, Rachel, and their two cats, Bass and Treble.
