Andrew Entrekin

Brass Instructor

Mr. Entrekin is a native of Clinton, SC and spent twenty-four years as a Music Educator in the Upstate of South Carolina. After completing a Bachelor of Music Education from The University of South Carolina in 1996, he spent the first three years of his career as the Assistant Director of Bands at Paul M. Dorman High School where the ensemble was a consistent 5A State Marching Band finalist. Also, the Marching Cavaliers were a Regional finalist at the Bands of America Championships in Johnson City, TN. In addition to their marching achievements, the Dorman program scored straight Superior Ratings with multiple Wind Ensembles and the Jazz program. Also, during his time in Spartanburg, Mr. Entrekin served as a member of the Marching Band Committee for the South Carolina Band Directors Association.

In 1999, Mr. Entrekin returned to his home of Laurens County, SC to become the Assistant Director and eventually Head Director of the Laurens District 55 High School Band. Under his direction, the Raider Band was a consistent 4A State Marching Band finalist and yearly winner of Grand Championships and Caption Awards at local competitions in South Carolina and North Carolina. In 2018, the Raider Band made its first appearance and became a finalist at a Bands of America Regional in Jacksonville, AL.

Mr. Entrekin's stage groups also received Superior Ratings in multiple concert classifications. As well, during Mr. Entrekin's time in the LDHS Band Room, Indoor Colorguard and Indoor Percussion Programs were initiated. In 2014, the Indoor Percussion Ensemble competed and won the South Carolina Band Directors Association State Championship.

After completing his Master of Education Administration from The University of South Carolina in 2019, Mr. Entrekin accepted the position of Assistant Principal at LDHS where he is responsible for the Related Arts programs and academic Seniors. Andy currently still works in Music Education as an adjudicator, consultant and clinician. Mr. Entrekin still resides in Clinton, SC with his wife Melissa (a former high school band director currently teaching middle school) and his youngest son, Mark Thomas (an all-state bass trombonist and academic Junior at LDHS). Mr. Entrekin's older two children are Anna Grace (Winthrop University Sophomore in International Business) and John Michael (Limestone University Junior in Music Education and veteran of Coastal Surge, Music City and The Cadets).
