Andrew Kriska

Andrew is excited to be returning to Carolina Gold for the third time in his career. Originally a member in 2006, his drum corps experience continued with the 2007, 2008, and 2010 Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps, and in 2011 and 2012 with The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, where he earned a bronze medal and was the 2012 Yamaha brass member of the year. He attended West Virginia University, where he studied music education. Upon aging out, he attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for music education and became involved with Carolina Gold again as a visual staff member.
During this time, he was also involved as the Visual Caption Head of Coastal Surge Drum & Bugle Corps (2012-2015) and as visual staff for Paradigm Percussion (2015). Andrew has served as a visual coordinator and drill writer for many schools across North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
Currently residing in Charleston, SC, he founded an independent percussion ensemble, Charles Towne Percussion, in 2017, competing in the WGI and CWEA circuits, and has been the Executive Director for 8 seasons. Under his leadership, Charles Towne survived the pandemic in 2021 and became a thriving organization, leading to a 9th-place finalist position in 2022, a 4th-place finish in 2023, and a 2nd-place finish in 2024, in the Independent A class. In addition to being the founder & director, from 2018 to 2025, he served as the drill writer for the organization. Recently promoted to the Independent Open class, he looks forward to expanding the organization further.
He currently serves on the Percussion and Winds advisory board for the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association(CWEA), and has previously done so for the WGI percussion advisory board in 2024 and 2025.
Additionally, he is currently in his 4th season teaching the Wando High School marching band on the Visual team. Wando is a 15-time South Carolina 5A Champion. The band is a 4-time Bands of America Grand Nationals finalist. Most recently, the band placed 5th at the BOA Indianapolis Super Regional in 2024 and won the 2025 BOA South Carolina regional.
Andrew currently works for Audio-Technica in Moncks Corner, SC, as a quality control inspector at the Southeast Distribution Center. Andrew looks forward to bringing his experience full circle from where he started at Carolina Gold, with non-profit administration, connections in the activity, and a sense of excellence in marching arts organizations by serving on the board.
