Austin Abad

As a performer, Austin Abad has mass marched trumpet with the Spirit of Atlanta, Bluecoats, and Santa Clara Vanguard. Most recently, Austin aged out as one of the trumpet section leaders with the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2025.
He is currently studying Instrumental Music Education at Appalachian State University and will graduate in December 2026. Austin was a member of the Marching Mountaineers trumpet section for 4 years. During this time he was the visual section leader for two of those years, and the visual captain for the band during his final year. Austin is a member of the piano studio at Appalachian State and enjoys playing competitively.
Austin comes from Goldsboro, North Carolina where he spent most of his life growing up and learning music. Austin’s first interaction with Carolina Gold was when the corps performed at a local high school and he had the chance to see them. He is incredibly excited to see work with Carolina Gold and grow as an educator along with the members!
