Mr. Elrod comes to River Bend from Lucas Middle School where he served as director of bands from 2016 to 2018. He instructed and planed for all the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band activities at Lucas Middle School. He also directed the Lucas Middle School pep band which proudly supported Lucas' Athletics.

Mr. Elrod also previously held the title of Associate Director of Music at Havelock High School in Havelock, NC. While at Havelock, he assisted in the planning and instruction of the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Chorus 1 Ensembles. Mr. Elrod was also the Director of Percussion at Havelock.

Mr. Elrod is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of East Carolina University where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2014. While at East Carolina, Mr. Elrod performed with the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Percussion Players Ensemble, Steel Pan Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Marching Band. While a member of the ECU Drumline, he was selected as an Undergraduate Staff Member and Section Leader. He has toured and performed with many of the above listed ensemble throughout the Southeastern United States.

Mr. Elrod is also a freelance percussionist and educator. He has performed with numerous ensembles around the state including the Greenville Chorus Society, Eastern Youth Orchestra, Tar River Symphonic Band, and the Triangle Brass Band. Mr. Elrod continues to teach percussion through the triangle area.

Mr. Elrod's professional affiliations include the North Carolina Music Educators Association, North Carolina Bandmasters Association - Central District, and the North Carolina Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.
Mr. Elrod is excited to be a part of the Music department at River Bend Middle School and hopes to help continue the tradition of excellence.
