Shedrick Samuels is originally from Winston-Salem, NC, and now lives and works in Raleigh, NC as a Conference and Event Planner at NC State University, his alma mater. While at NC State, Shedrick was a member of the “PowerSound of the South” Marching Band as a trombone player, section leader and Field Commander. He also participated in the Basketball Pep Band and Concert Band.
Shedrick came to Carolina Gold in 2003 where he was a member of the horn line on baritone. Since then he has remained involved with Gold in numerous ways including Horn Sergeant in 2004 - 2006. In 2007, he received the coveted Jody Strickland Heart of Gold Award for his service to Carolina Gold in its rebuilding year. In 2008, Gold returned to the competition field with Shedrick helping to lead the way as one of two Drum Majors. He continued in that capacity through 2010. His popular phrase “Allllright Carolina Gold,” used to start each rehearsal day, is still a daily highlight among members.
In 2012, Shedrick marks his sixth year on the Board of Directors having served as Executive Secretary, President and currently as Executive Treasurer.
