Originally from Roanoke VA, Justin Mabry is currently the percussion caption head and battery arranger for Carolina Gold Drum & Bugle Corps which received the 2010 & 2011 High Percussion award in Class A at DCA Finals. Justin is also currently the co-executive director and battery arranger for Wake Forest Independent indoor percussion ensemble. Justin received his Bachelor of Music Degree from Mars Hill College and is currently pursuing his Masters of Music degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Justin teaches private lessons and is a percussion instructor, arranger and clinician for several schools in North Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia as well as an adjudicator for several band circuits. Justin is a featured arranger on Standing O Marching and is currently on staff with MulTiPerc as an instructor and clinician for both the Youth Percussion Ensemble and the Summer Percussion Camp.
Justin has studied under and worked with several of percussion's biggest icons; including Dr. Kristopher Keeton, Dr. Brian Tinkel, Dr. Brian Mason, Ian Hale, Tyler Dempsey, Allen Joanis, Teddy Holcomb, Chris Romanoswki, and Eric Miller.
As a performer, he performed with the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra and participated in the Mars Hill College’s marching band, percussion ensemble, marimba band, jazz band, and wind symphony. He has participated in Drum Corps International as a member of the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps in 2004 that received the high percussion trophy. Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005, 2006 and in WGI as a member of Odyssey Percussion Theater in 2008. Justin currently participates in the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s wind ensemble and percussion ensemble.
Justin is an alumnus of Phi Mu Alpha and a member of Percussive Arts Society.
