
Ron Forsh is in his ninth year teaching in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. He is the Band Director at East Forsyth Middle and Atkins High Schools. Since Atkins opened in 2005, Mr. Forsh has built the program to include Concert, Marching, Jazz, and Pep Bands as well as Chamber Orchestra. These groups have performed at festivals across North Carolina, receiving Superior and Excellent ratings.
Mr. Forsh is a native of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He attended Winston-Salem State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 2003. In 2008, he earned a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In addition to fulfilling the professional responsibilities of a music educator, Forsh has made
contributions to the profession at the county, district and state levels. He has served as an adjudicator and clinician in Forsyth, Guilford, Yadkin, and Stokes Counties. Mr. Forsh was voted the 2011-2012 Band Director of the Year by the Forsyth County Band Directors Association (FCBDA) and was awarded the 2011 Outstanding Educator Award by the Women’s Leadership Council and the United Way in his first year at East Forsyth Middle School.
Mr. Forsh served as a panelist in a roundtable discussion on culturally responsive teaching held at the 2008 North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA) In-Service Conference in Winston-Salem. He holds membership in the National Association for Music Education, National Flute Association, North Carolina Association of Educators, Forsyth County Association of Educators, Forsyth County Band Directors Association, NCMEA, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. As a performer, Forsh has enjoyed opportunities to play with renowned recording artists such as Nicholas Peyton, "Flutes on Fourth" (a professional flute choir that performs in and around the Triad), and Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, where he was named Percussion Section Leader for the 2011 season.
